Teaser Interview With Mr. Harish Goyal, Speaker at International Summit on OTT TV and Video-on-Deman
As we enter the final few weeks before the international Summit on OTT TV and Video-on-Demand (VoD) - Africa we managed to catch up with one of our Speakers - Mr Harish Goyal, CEO, Zee TV (South Africa) - and gave him a couple of posers: Us: Please share with us how your organisation leverages customer insight to provide content and services that the market really wants. Harish: It is imperative that research is conducted on all programming in order to gauge viewers' preferences. These insights ensure that content is well received by viewers. Africa is no longer satisfied with aspirational content which does not resonate locally. The African viewer wants to see content that speaks to them and reflects back who they are. With the number of channels Zee Africa has on the continent we speak to a diverse audience, and offer the best of Bollywood content, customised to each channel's audience. Us: What are the dynamics of offering local/regional originated content and show? Harish: Africa's diverse market means that what is offered must have wide appeal, without being whitewashed as generic content. Genre variety is important in this kind of environment, as this allows content owners such as Zee to have the opportunity to cater to all their viewers. Needless to say, a watertight programming strategy, coupled with a dynamic marketing plan, pave the road to success. Coupling internationally tested formats with local talent provides glocal flavour. Join Harish and other key industry executives and organisations at the Radisson's Blu Hotel, Johannesburg, South Africa on the 07th - 08th February 2017 and explore the opportunities (and challenges) for OTT TV and VoD services in Africa through a range of interactive discussions, illuminating case studies presentations, and engaging senior-level networking.
